About Me
A little more about me (Darren Hallinan)
Hi, my name is Darren Hallinan, and this is my website DarrenHallinan.com.
I have been building, deploying and optimizing websites since 2002, so i believe that expierence is now on my side! Below i have detailed the vast array of internet related skills which i have picked up over the last few years of working on the Internet
Search Engine Friendly
I have very good experience in search engine optimisation, which is what i consider one of the most important elements to any website, lets face it. . you can have the best website offering the very best service or product and at the very best price. . but if your not in search results for people looking for the product your not going to sell it! and sometimes the hardest part of a sale is getting the buyer to be convinced he or she needs it. with search engine optimisation the people will find you because they are looking for you or your product, they already want it and are looking for it.
Static Sites
I have built many, what I call static websites, websites with no backend or anything. built with HTML, CSS, and the odd btt of flash or java script. normally I build these sites for bed and breakfasts or guest houses and small businesses which would not want the ability to update content, normally the site would be less then 10 pages. With "Static Websites" I find you have great scope with layout and styling of each individual page. This gives designers/developers an opportunity to add nice forms, lightbox, customised images etc. But most importantly they are very easy to optimise for search engines like google etc.
on most static sites i build i try to include a retainer to cover updating the site, having fresh content on your website is very important. the retainer can also include domain and hosting renewal and even a link building project.
Content Management Systems
I have built a fare few websites using a content management systems or CMS. Basicly a CMS is a website driven by a database, and can be controlled by one or 1000 users in a easy to use control panel which is called the "back end" these systems are excellent for sites with large amounts of content, sites wishing to sell online or run an auction or offer a directory etc.
I have tried and tested many CMS systems and the one I recommend is Joomla! one of the most powerful CMS Systems i have ever come across.
The one thing to note is that CMS systems need to be backed up by a maintenance agreement
"Content is King and Link Building Is Queen"
Content Creation & Copyrighting
The content of any page or site is THE #1 MOST IMPORTANT THING on your site, its really what everything works around in regards to SEO and user satisfaction. having original accurate content on your page or site and keeping it fresh. Its common scene. . . if you visit a site and like it, say you bookmark it and visit it again in a months time and nothing has changed well your probably not going to go back again for some time, but if it has two "new" articles that you found interesting, your more likely to visit the site again very soon to see what other new content bight be added.
